There are a variety of ways to earn points in The Cummings Poker League. The four players with the highest point totals at the end of the twelve month season earn the set payouts. Before further explanation of the point system is given, here are the set points:

 1st Place = 25 points
 2nd Place = 20 points
 3rd Place = 15 points
 4th Place = 13 points
5th Place = 12 points
6th Place = 11 points
7th Place = 10 points
8th Place = 9 points
9th Place = 8 points
10th Place = 7 points
11th Place = 6 points
12th Place = 5 points
13th Place = 4 points
14th place = 3 points
15th Place = 2 points
All Other Players = 1 point
-------------------------------------
Bounty = 1 point

Swimming Ducks = 2 points

Lottery Hand (showdown only) = 2 points
Aces Cracked
(showdown only) = 3 points
2-7 Off-Suit Win
(showdown only) = 5 points

Each player placing in the top fifteen at each tournament will earn the set points published above. All other players earn a single point.

A BOUNTY is earned whenever a player loses all of his/her chips. The player responsible for knocking another player out of a tournament will earn a point. There is no cap on bounty points per tournament per player. If an instance occurs where multiple players knock out one player due to a tie for the highest winning hand, each player that ties for the knockout will receive a full bounty point.
**You must have at least the same amount of chips as the bounty holder (have them covered) to take their bounty, as it's the player who takes the last chips from a player that is awarded the bounty. This may not be the overall hand winner; the bounty is awarded to the player who wins the ‘relevant pot’ for the hand in question, which may be the main pot or one of several side pots. ‘Relevant pot’ means the pot in which the bounty player was all-in for their final chips.

SWIMMING DUCKS is possible when a player is dealt pocket 2s. If the player holding 2-2 wins the hand under any circumstance, that player earns two points. If the player is awarded the pot because all other players have folded, that player needs only to reveal his/her ducks to receive the points (no showdown required). If the ducks receive chips due to a split pot, that does not count as a win an no points will be awarded. If ducks win a side pot but lose the main pot (during a player's all-in), no points will be awarded as the duck's did not win the hand's most relevant pot.

LOTTERY HAND is determined by two random cards drawn from a shuffled before each tournament begins. The two cards (suits ignored) are displayed on a whiteboard for all players to see. If a player wins a hand in a showdown while holding the lottery hand as his or her hole cards, he or she earns two points. A showdown means all five community cards have been revealed and all non-folding players at the table have shown their hand (after betting concludes). Hands ending in an all-in call is still considered a showdown. If the lottery hand receives chips due a split pot, that does not count as a win and no points will be awarded. If the lottery hand wins a side pot but loses the main pot (during a player's all-in), no points will be awarded as the lottery hand did not win the hand's most relevant pot.

ACES CRACKED refers to when pocket aces are beaten. If a player is dealt two aces, but ends up losing the hand in a showdown, the player holding the aces earns three points. A showdown means all five community cards have been revealed and all non-folding players at the table have shown their hand (after betting concludes). Hands ending in an all-in call is still considered a showdown. If the aces receive chips due a split pot, that does not count as a loss and no points will be awarded. If aces  lose a side pot but win the main pot (during a player's all-in), no points will be awarded as the aces did not get cracked for the hand's most relevant pot.

2-7 off-suit is statistically the worst starting hand in poker. If a player is dealt 2-7 off-suit (meaning each card is a different suit) and he/she wins the hand in a showdown, the player winning with the 2-7 earns five points. A showdown means all five community cards have been revealed and all non-folding players at the table have shown their hand (after betting concludes). Hands ending in an all-in call is still considered a showdown. If the 2-7 receives chips due to a split pot, that does not count as a win and no points will be awarded. If 2-7 wins a side pot but loses the main pot (during a player's all-in), no points will be awarded as the 2-7 did not win the hand's most relevant pot.

***If two players are knocked out of a tournament on the same hand and each of those losing players began the hand with the exact same amount of chips, those two players will share the next highest placing and points on the scale. For example, if there are 11 players left in a tourney and two players (each with 1000 chips) are eliminated on the same hand, both of those players will be awarded 10th place and receive seven points.
